Love Parks 2020


Love Parks 2020 will run until the end of August 2020 and is the perfect reason to get outdoors and enjoy the summer. We’re celebrating all the parks thatHull has to offer, so why not visit your local park during this month to show what it means to you?

The purpose of Love Parks Week is to drum up appreciation and interest in your local parks. we aims to encourage care and a conscientious attitude towards our fantastic green spaces in Hull. 

During lockdown, Hull'sparks and outdoor areas were crucial in maintaining physical and mental health. It was a fantastic opportunity for people to truly appreciate the open, outdoor spaces around them, utilising them during an extremely difficult time.

  1. 91% of people believe that public parks and open spaces improve their quality of life.
  2. A brisk walk every day, in your local park, can reduce the risk of heart attacks by 50%, strokes by 50%, diabetes by 50%, fracture of the femur by 30%, colon cancer by 30%, breast cancer by 30% and Alzheimer’s by 25%.
  3. Air quality, air temperature, water and flood management, are all kept within manageable limits because of parks and green spaces.
  4. The more often a person visits urban open green spaces, the less often he or she will report stress-related illnesses.
