Orienteering In Parks
Published: 11th Aug 2020
Orienteering is an outdoor sport that involves participants following a course marked on a map and finding their way to a series of checkpoints. It is up to participants to decide which way to go, which is all part of the fun and sets it apart from just a walk or run.
With current guidelines such as social distancing and restrictions on numbers limiting some sports, orienteering is a great way to try a family-friendly adventurous challenge for all ages and abilities.
In partnership with Hull Culture and Leisure, the Humber and Lincolnshire Orienteers (HALO) have set up a number of Permanent Orienteering Courses across four of our parks. You can choose from a short, medium and long route that can be completed on your own, with family or with friends.
Routes can be found at East Park, West Park, Pickering Park and Costello Playing Fields. Downloads of the maps and answer sheets below
These courses are a great way to explore the Parks and can provide hours of fun.
With the national lockdown in Jnauary 2021. British Orienteering have launched at home resources for young people to use, these can be found here!
